Evolved Gas Analysis (EGA) is the perfect tool for characterizing the thermal behavior of organics, inorganics or polymers in more detail, elucidating the chemistry behind the processes.
The PERSEUS® STA 449 F1/F3 Jupiter® is an unmatched alliance between two successful instruments: the NETZSCH STA 449 F1/F3 Jupiter® and the FT-IR spectrometer by Bruker Optics. Its design is unprecedented and sets a benchmark for state-of-the-art coupling systems.
Due to its robustness, high performance, compactness and attractive price, this combination instrument has the potential to find its way into any laboratory – be it in universities or industry, across the spectrum from inorganics to polymers.
Any existing NETZSCH STA 449 F1/F3 Jupiter® system can be upgraded to the PERSEUS®.

The Proteus® Software for thermal analysis and the OPUS software for FT-IR, both of which run on Windows®, are integrated with each other and work well together in support of the PERSEUS® STA 449 F1/F3 Jupiter® coupling. All information is expressed as a function of temperature and time of the running experiment.
The Proteus® Software includes everything you need to carry out a measurement and evaluate the resulting data. User-friendly menus and automated routines make this software very easy to use while still providing sophisticated analysis. The Proteus® Software is licensed with the instrument and can of course be installed on other computer systems.
Features:
- Simultaneous measuring, data acquisition, and data storage with two software packages: Proteus® (by NETZSCH) for thermal analysis data, and OPUS (by Bruker Optics) for FT-IR spectra and traces
- OPUS/CHROM software as 2D and 3D plots for FT-IR and STA measuring curves, as a function of time and temperature
- OPUS/SEARCH with spectra library
- Traces for evaluation of characteristic temperatures and peak surface together with thermal analysis curves
- Gram-Schmidt plot with temperature and peak area calculation together with thermal analysis curves

Automatic Sample Changer
The automatic sample changer (ASC) for up to 20 samples similarly handles routine measurements in quality control as well as requirements for research and development. It works around the clock to free your time for other challenges and allows you to make optimal use of the PERSEUS® STA 449 F1/F3 even during the weekend. Of course, each sample can be assigned a different measurement and evaluation program. Easy-to-understand input fields lead you through the programming of a series of measurements. Unplanned analyses can also be inserted into a pre-programmed series of measurements already in progress.

Application literature
Evolved gas analysis (EGA) from thermal analyzers such as thermogravimetry (TG) or simultaneous thermal analysis (STA) which refers to simultaneous TG–DSC is well established since it greatly enhances the value of TG or TG–DSC results.
